We have 2 beautiful pieces of the iridescent raw carborundum. It is known for it’s unique sheen that resembles oil against the dark black of the stone. It is one of the first synthetic stones. Have you heard the story of how raw carborundum came about? If not, find out more below!

Learn About Carborundum

It is a form of silicon carbide, or SiC. There are natural forms of silicon carbide, but this is not one of them. This form was originally created in the late 1800s when a man decided to try to create artificial diamonds. It is said this was the result.
