We are proud to announce our limited stock of pink kyanite! But wait…why the quotes? The pictures show a deep green blade of kyanite. Have we deceived you? Absolutely not. These fantastic specimens are UV reactive!

These are completely new to us. So, if these amazing pieces are available elsewhere under another trade name, be sure to drop us a line and let us know. We now have some pictures with UV, but the quality is not great. The actual color is a reddish-pink.

Get to Know Kyanite

Kyanite is a mineral that belongs to the silicate group, specifically the aluminosilicate subgroup. Its chemical composition is typically Al2SiO5, meaning it consists of aluminum, silicon, and oxygen atoms. Kyanite is formed through regional metamorphism, where high pressures and temperatures alter existing rocks, such as clay minerals or sedimentary rocks, into kyanite-bearing rocks. This process usually occurs in mountain-building events like orogenies.

Kyanite is primarily mined in countries like the United States, Brazil, Switzerland, Russia, and Kenya. In the United States, significant deposits can be found in states like North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. The mineral is extracted through mining techniques such as open-pit mining or underground mining.

2. The colors may vary due to monitor and lighting differences.
3. Please use your own judgment when allowing children to handle.
4. Not suggested for use in animal habitats or fish tanks.
5. UV Notes: For gemstones, 365nm is the best for UV lighting. Only some specimens illuminate under the other part of this spectrum (370-400nm). This is why some pictures are not as clear for our UV reactive pieces. Our current lights are at 395nm. For home use, the 395nm is less expensive, but in some cases, will need a zoomed beam on the flashlight style UV lights. If you do use a 365nm light, please take care to use eye protection.
