A Bit About the Combination of Blue Calcite & Vesuvianite

This amazing combination is usually mislabeled as blue calcite and peridot, blue calcite and olivine, or even celestite and peridot. None of these are quite accurate. There are two possibilities, though the likelihood of getting one variety over another does exist. The most commonly found is blue calcite with vesuvianite. The other is blue calcite with diopside. The latter may be a mislabeling of the former, but no one seems to have openly shared their data from using mass spectrometry or other testing methods.

It would be useful to note that peridot is a variety of forsterite and forsterite is a member of the olivine group. There is also the fayalite-forsterite series, which is:
